Volunteer Tutors Needed

If you are interested in volunteering, please call the Adult Learner Services Coordinator at 603-752-1927.

Adult Learner Services

The Adult Learner Services offers small group instruction whenever possible in basic reading, writing, math, English as a second language (ESL), and preparation for the high school equivalency exam (GED). Volunteer tutors receive training and on-going support as they work in partnership with their students to reach individual educational goals.

Individual Tutoring

The heart of the program lies in one-to-one tutoring. Meetings with the volunteer tutor are private and happen at a time and place that is mutually convenient. Many people find they flourish with the personalized attention they receive.

Small Group Classes

Some areas in the state provide small group instruction for ESL, GED preparation, or basic skills. Time and length of sessions vary from place to place.

Student Requirements

On-going Registration

To make a confidential appointment, call the Adult Learner Services Coordinator at 752-1927. Part of the initial meeting at the ALS office will include an informal assessment of the student's current skill level and a discussion of their educational goals. For those interested in the GED, a GED practice test will be given when appropriate.
